I have recently returned from holiday in Eastern Europe. We sailed on the Danube, which isn’t blue, from Budapest to the Black Sea on MS Rembrandt with just 70 other passengers and then returned back to Budapest, visiting towns and cities in 5 countries. It was most interesting. If only we had known that Karadzic was going to be caught in Belgrade the day after we were there!
I couldn’t resist including the photo (above right). This was a town called Pecs, in Hungary. The road sign could be useful on roads near Crawley.
As for pension matters, I got back in time for NTLPA committee meeting on 24 July and there was a good turnout of members afterwards at the White Hart in Stockbridge.
Several of the latest batch of OPA postings contain instances of pension scheme buyouts that are currently in vogue. There are a number of insurance companies entering this market this year as companies attempt to reduce the risk of managing Defined Benefit schemes. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

OPA With continued talk in the industry of pension buyouts and regulatory changes, it is worth keeping an eye on the many reports and other useful related information published by the Occupational Pensioners’ Alliance. The OPA also issue many postings which are available on the forum.
