Memorabilia Emley Moor

Overview
As part of the growing rapidly expanding 405 line independent television network, Emley Moor became operational on it’s present site near Huddersfield on 3rd November 1956 covering the Yorkshire area.

In 1966, the original mast was replaced with what at that time was the tallest mast in Europe at 1,265 ft, but following it’s collapse on 19th March 1969 due to severe winds and weight of ice, the mast was replaced in 1971 with Britian’s largest self supporting concrete tower at 330m (1,083 ft).

Over the years the site has continued to expand and has become an integral part of what is now the Arqiva transmission network.
